For this task we had to choose a takeaway menu and choose a section of the menu and recreate the layout and the type. The menu which I choose to do is Spices Of Ruby which is an indian restaurant. The reason I choose this menu as I think the design is dreadful, because of the chunky type and the tight kerning and the dark dingy colours it lacks appeal and attractiveness.
This image below is of my redesign of the menu above in the top left hand corner. I want to make it easier and clearer to read, but still make it clear that it is a indian takeaway, I also wanted to simple it down as I felt that there was to much going on, and you don't know where to look. To do this I used a font called Helvetica as is a simple clear font to read and i made the back ground of the menu black to make it look more sophisticated and professional I then added a deep red colour to the indian lotus flower to resemblance the spice in indians. I also added an oriental pattern in the background to make it look like an oriental takeaway, I coloured it in grey so that it would be there subtle in the background so it doesn't over power the text.
In result to my final outcome I think that my design works well as it's clear and easy to read and it still hint's that it is an indian restaurant by using the simple colour pallet of black, white and red.
