Studio Brief 02 - What is a Book?

For my idea for book I decided to base it round nature and the outdoors and how therapeutic it is 

how it can relax your mind. This book will be a phonebook from a range of photography from my

own photographs and also my mums from travelling. The idea behind this book is to make people

realise how the outdoors can relax you, the imagery and content will consists of photos of things 

that we would find relaxing.

Here are some screen shots of  the book which I designed. I used Margins, drop caps. columns, rulers paragraphs and the grid system on indesign to create this design. It's important to use the grid system when creating book sand designs as it aligns you work and makes sure that you do not align things un evenly and there for creates a more professional looking book.

The reason I choose to call this book Laze and this particular typeface s because I wanted to look an feel relaxed and due to the freeness of the font and how it looks like a hand written font communicates this well.

When it comes to binding my book i decided to Japanese stitch it as I felt that because the book was simple i could use  the Japanese stitch to add more texture and detail. However I discovered many problems due to the thickness of the book and learnt that it would be best if i had printed it out single sheets & i then also not to cut it out before binding. 

However overall I am happy with my book design as it looks pleasing to they eye and i have used, margins, drop caps & a grid structure. If I were to do this again I would take more time  and care creating this book.
